Reflections of Shadow: Nemesis Spawned by James W. Lackie is written with a richness of language and intriguing description not often seen in today’s literature. The scenes are logical and well placed. [The author] does a very good job of world building to create a setting for this book and future ones in the series…  I appreciate the front matter with the map and characters that can be referred to throughout the story. This story is a good start to a series, and I think readers will look for future work by James W Lackie. book review by Booklover

Alexander Caedeyrn is not an easy protagonist to like. His upbringing has been for the single-minded purpose of reaching a particular destiny. He has characteristics such as strength, purpose, charm and good looks, but just when you think you’ve figured him out, he does something that annoys you, showing his cold-bloodedness, arrogance and stubbornness. However, the story weaves a tale of an unusual world and just when you think you’ve figured things out, the rug is swept out from under you. I’m curious to see where he heads next — but I do hope he develops a few more sympathetic or likeable characteristics as he moves through his world. If so, this could be a wonderful new series! book review by Nanette Hillier

starstarstarstarstar Reflections of Shadow: Nemesis Spawned on May 06, 2013 “This is a must read. Reflections of Shadow: Nemesis Spawned will carry you to fantasy world not far from reality. The way that the author provides such detailed descriptions of landscapes and events made it feel as if you were part of the story. I found myself getting so involved in the story line that I actually felt resentment towards some of the characters. The author created “Alexander”, who sends you on an emotional rollercoaster. In one chapter you are shocked and angry by the things he does, but by the very next chapter you can’t help but like him again. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I look forward to the next one since I have to know what happens to Alexander!!!”
